What are the COVID safety guidelines for the Auction Gala?

Moraga Education Foundation will be following Contra Costa County’s COVID-19 guidelines in place at the time of the event. Please plan to check the guidelines closer to the event. Doors to the outside will remain open weather permitting. 

 

Why is MEF hosting an Auction Gala?

The Auction Gala is Moraga Education Foundation’s largest fundraiser of the year. It offers the foundation an opportunity to diversify its fundraising efforts and bring the community together for a fun and enjoyable evening. This year marks our 40th anniversary and we are excited to celebrate with our community.

 

How will MEF utilize the funds raised at the Auction Gala?  

Funds raised from the Auction Gala will supplement the foundation’s annual campaign fundraising efforts, which supports every student, every day by helping bridge the gap between state education funding and the real cost of educating our children.

 

How can I contribute to MEF and the Auction Gala?

Thank you for your desire to contribute to MEF. You can contribute to MEF and our Auction Gala in a variety of ways, including making a contribution to our silent or live auctions. In addition, monetary donations are always welcome and appreciated. You may also volunteer your time the day of the event. Please visit our auction donation link and our volunteer link to help. 

 

Are my donations to MEF tax deductible?

MEF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  All gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. MEF Tax ID:  94-2791659

 

What is the online auction?

The online auction takes place April 16-23 in the days prior to the Auction Gala. It is open to anyone to participate regardless if you plan to attend the Auction Gala on Saturday, April 30, 2022. The silent auction will feature more than 100 items with wide community appeal. 

 

Can I purchase auction gala tickets at the door?

Auction Gala tickets are limited and must be purchased IN ADVANCE.  Tickets will go on sale in February.

 

What does my ticket purchase cover?

Your ticket purchase includes a champagne and hors d'oeuvres reception during the silent auction, followed by a sit down dinner paired with red and white wine, a live auction, and dancing.

 

How do I get the ticket(s) I purchased? 

There are no physical tickets for the event.  Once you purchase your admission ticket, you will be added to our guest list.

 

What is the timeline for the evening?

The event is from 6pm to 11pm, with early access for our Honor Roll members at 5:45pm. Appetizers and champagne will be served during the cocktail hour and silent auction. The ballroom doors will open at 7 p.m., followed by a sit down dinner, short program, and live auction. After the auction, guests have several options, including dancing and use of a golf simulator.  

 

What should I wear?

Black tie encouraged. This means guests have the option of wearing their most formal attire (such as an evening gown or tuxedo); however a formal suit or cocktail dress is also appropriate. 

 

What about parking?

Parking is valet only. Upon driving onto the Diablo Country Club property, guests will follow signage directing them to the Clubhouse. Guests will be greeted at the clubhouse by a valet attendant. Valet is included in your gala admission; however, tipping the attendants is greatly appreciated. Carpooling is encouraged.

 

Do I need to bring cash?

Cash is suggested for tipping the valet and coat check, but is otherwise not necessary. When guests purchase tickets for the event their credit card information will be on file with MEF and connected to the guest’s “Paddle Number.”  Throughout the evening each guest will use their “Paddle Number” to bid at the silent and live auction, purchase raffle tickets, and purchase additional drink tickets.
